Online education is the form of education that takes place over the internet which is also called e-learning or online learning. It is a type of distance learning taken with the help of electronic devices like computers, mobiles, laptops, etc. using the internet. The worldwide spread outbreak of coronavirus has led to moving towards online classes by schools. We are now entering a new era-the revolution of online education.
An online class has numerous pros. This education is available to students sitting anywhere in the world. It has eliminated the time and cost required to reach the school. It has prevented the loss of education, especially even though a lockdown has been imposed. It is indeed a safe alternative to school education during the pandemic period. It reduces the financial cost as it is far more affordable as compared to physical learning. It eliminates the disturbances due to crowdy classes and back pain due to uncomfortable benches.
On the other hand, an online class has many cons too. One of the biggest problems is that internet connectivity is not proper in many places. Another big problem is the lack of one-to-one teaching. Overuse of electronic devices for studies has resulted in various health issues. It may create a sense of isolation which may cause anxiety, distress, abnormal tendency, and requires additional training for instructors. It is prone to technical issues and there might be poor levels of participation of students. It reduces social interactions and there is a lack of practice-based learning. It is not suitable for every topic and mainly for practical subjects.
Although there are many advantages and disadvantages of online classes, students have to analyze and have to be adapted with this model of education to overcome these pandemic diseases like covid 19. We have to solve the problems related to this model which may be a big revolution in the coming years.
